Term Local Name Meaning
RTC Pahani Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops. The primary document showing who owns the land, its size, and what is growing on it.
Mutation Namantar The process of transferring ownership from one person to another (due to sale, gift, or death).
Survey Number Sy. No. A unique number assigned to a specific piece of land in a village for identification.
Hissa Number Hissa A sub-division of a Survey Number. If a large plot is split among three siblings, each gets a Hissa number (e.g., 12/1, 12/2).
Akarband Akarband A register that shows the total area of a survey number and the land revenue (tax) fixed for it.
Hobli Hobli A cluster of villages. It is an administrative unit between a Village and a Taluk.
Khata Khata An account identifying the person who is liable to pay property tax. It is proof of assessment, not necessarily a title deed.
